The FRAX® tool is an osteoporosis risk assessment using information about your bone density and other risk factors to help healthcare providers determine your risk of breaking a hip or other major bone in the next 10 years. If you have low bone density (osteopenia), your bone density test (DXA scan) report may include your FRAX® score along with your bone density score to discuss with your healthcare provider to see if treatment is needed with an osteoporosis medication. If your report does not include your score, your healthcare provider can find out your FRAX® score using a web-based version.
